Significance

Showing English while we prepare the translation
Vaitheeswaran Koil, dedicated to Lord Shiva worshipped here as Vaidyanatha (the divine healer), is one of the nine Navagraha temples in Tamil Nadu and represents the planet Mars (Angarakan). Devotees visit primarily for healing and to remedy Mars-related afflictions in their birth charts (Sevvai dosha). The temple's sacred tank, known as the Siddhamirtha Theertham, is believed to have curative properties. Tuesdays are especially significant as the day associated with Mars, and the temple sees larger gatherings on these days. The main sanctum opens at 6 AM and closes for the afternoon break around 1 PM, reopening at 4 PM until 9 PM. Weekday visits (Wednesday through Friday) typically have shorter darshan queues than weekends.
